Tuesday, May 13th, 2008This is a photograph that I took recently, and have tentatively identified it as a Swainson’s Hawk in its “dark morph” configuration. There is no particular significance attached to the occaision of this event; I just liked the image and wanted to share it.

Western Kingbird
Sunday, May 11th, 2008This imperious looking little bird is, I think, a western kingbird. It is part of a huge family of flycatchers called tyrant flycatchers, which is why I’m not absolutely sure about my identification.
