White Barn Acrobatics
By drybrush | December 30, 2008
One of the Red Squirrels has found a home in the wall of the “white barn”.
I didn’t have my camera at the ready to capture the intricacies of this maneuver, but it’s quite a feat of acrobatics.
He starts from the roof. Then scaling down the side of the window shutter he stretches precariously toward the hole in the wall; and grabbing what foothold that he can, he pulls himself into the hole. Bravo !!!

As I was moving some tin roofing, I came across this little guy.
He looks ferocious enough to me. Ground squirrels beware!

Red Coyote
By drybrush | November 15, 2008
Recently, we found a road kill and believed it to be a red fox. We reported the sighting to a group at the local university who are surveying the red fox population in this area.
Interestingly enough, it turned out to be a coyote. Here are a few images that I found of the varied coloration in these amazing “Ghost Dogs”.

American White Pelican
By drybrush | November 12, 2008
Many of the American White Pelicans winter around here in central California. I especially find them an amazing sight while they are flying in formation.
This is a new print of mine from watercolor.
