Wednesday, August 15th, 2007The American Crow is a fascinating bird, with a somewhat tarnished reputation. I really enjoyed doing this painting; it was an occasion of serendipity, and it’s on auction at ebay right now.
Tabula Rasa
Sunday, August 5th, 2007Here I am working on a new painting. Actually, it’s the initial stage of a new painting; the blank piece of paper stage. Of course I’m not actually there at the moment: I’m away in preparation for beginning. I guess this should really be called the procrastination stage!
Red-winged Blackbird Painting
Sunday, July 22nd, 2007This painting of a red-winged blackbird is presently up for auction on ebay. The image is also featured on a T shirt in my giftshop.
Chicken Squash
Saturday, July 21st, 2007If you have ever grown zucchini you know that if you take your eye off of it a gargantuan speciman will appear overnight.
A friend’s mother used to call them “chicken squash” when they achieved that state, and feed them to the chickens.
An old rooster that I painted used to help the hens devour these delicasies!
Old Barns
Monday, July 16th, 2007Here is a typical old Hay and livestock barn from around here in Yolo county. I’m starting a photographic catalogue of these structures for painting studies, and for a rembrance of the old ways.
