Young Turkeys
Thursday, September 11th, 2008A wild hen and her poults have recently shown up at Sarge’s Cache Creek Ranch. Here they are feeding on the other side of the creek.
Blacktail Doe
Thursday, August 14th, 2008I surprised her this morning; and luckily I had the camera ready. No special story, I just thought that it was a classic image of the local deer in the dry foothills of the Pacific range in California.
Young Swainsons Hawk
Saturday, July 19th, 2008I think that the young Swainsons Hawk may have survived the dreaded Great Horned Owl attack. Here are some photos of an adult ( top) and a young hawk in a another tree close to the nesting tree.
It appears as if the adult has given the young bird a small ground squirrel.
Hummers in the Indian Tobacco
Wednesday, July 9th, 2008This is a flowering plant that is referred to locally as Indian Tobacco. I have no idea as to its addictive properties, however the the hummingbirds love it.
