A Model Cannon

105 howitzer towed

My friend Thurb has been doing some model building recently; mostly fighter planes and bombers, but his latest is this 105 howitzer.
Seeing it takes me back to Fort Sill, OK where I trained on these as a “gun dog”. I don’t have a photo of the real 105, but here is a picture that I took of a 155 howitzer that we used when I was in Germany.

One Response to A Model Cannon

Enjoyed the canon stuff, John. Thanks for not mentioning certain problems I had with the 105. Seeing the picture of the 155 reminded me that above a certain calibre there is little small, light, easy to move, etc. about a howitzer and this is even more so for the 8″ which we had in my Guard unit.
