I was worried about the young tomato plants, and I had reason to be. Not one brave little soldier was left standing after that spring storm. I knew that they looked pretty weak when we planted them. They really weren’t sufficiently prepared; so now it’s back to the drawing board. Apparently, in the beginning, they needed a lot more sun and conditioning. So this year we were forced to go with nursery plants, and they seem to be doing just fine.

For those who might be wondering – I take full responsibility for this season’s disaster. In the past I was doing lots incorrectly when starting the plants this didn’t matter as conditions in the outside were benign when the plants were set out in garden. Lots of rethinking now going on so as to avoid a repeat of 2010.
