You have probably heard something about the honey bee shortage which is generally blamed on the phenomenon of colony collapse. The University of California at Davis has an ongoing honey bee research program and recently they joined forces with Haagen-Dazs through TwitCause@The Experience Project to raise money to fund ongoing research. Haagen-Dazs will donate $1.00 to the cause (up to $1,000 a day) every time a Twitter user tweets #HelpHoneyBees. (Sample tweet: Tweet-a-thon for Bees! Tweet #HelpHoneyBees and Häagen-Dazs will donate $1! (up to $1,000/day through Nov 11) http://bit.ly/HoneyBee). In my opinion this is a great example of social networking at its finest.
