Fish Spotting

catfish

I had mentioned in an earlier post that I thought that fish were being blocked from coming downstream in Cache creek below the town of Madison. That still may be the case, but I did spot some fish moving quickly upstream recently. I really couldn’t positively identify what they were, but I think that they may have ¬†been catfish.

Little Jack

The veggie garden is not even planted yet, but the rabbits are already showing up. This little jack rabbit is one of the first, however there is also a multitude of cottontails ready to dine on those first tender green little morsels.

Ishi the Last Yahi

Ishi-blog
Years ago I read a book about Ishi the last Yahi Indian in California. It’s a tragic but very moving story. I always think about him when I’m in the California foothills. Then a while ago I was driving through the foothills in Oroville and inadvertently came upon this marker where he was discovered in 1911.
